Researching into platform gaming

We've decided to look at platform games as this is the style we want to produce our game in. Examples of these are Uncharted and Tomb Raider as they don't use obvious leveling up within the game, the only way to tell is how far you get into the game by continuous playing.

Game marketing and promotion mood board

A mood board I have created for the current 'Design in Context' project which I have been assigned to the Marketing and Promotion position, where I have looked into advertisements, game casing and front covers of magazines focused on gaming (as shown above). The project is to create a game based on the characters that we have created from the 1960s decade, bringing them together in some way and form. Due to my position, my focus will be to look at existing game products, their casing, advertisements, how much it will cost to advertise, etc.

1960s mood board

Before Watchmen covers

These are photos of the latest issues of the 'Before Watchmen' series. The colour coordination on the 'Ozymandias' issue caught my attention mainly out of all the issue covers so far. The neutral blue and red work well together with the composition of the image facing downwards. The 'Silk Spectre' issue drew my attention to the 1960s Design in Context project I am currently working on. The use of psychadelic bold colours resemble the end of that decade.

Design In Context - 1960s Character Design

Create a character within the 1960s that's either fantasy or real. Focus on the clothing (relevant to decade), body language, posture, movement and facial expression. Your character must be inspired by the concerns, culture or style of the 1960s.

1960s Fashion - Stripes, flares, psycadelic...
Events within the 1960s - JFK & Martin Luther King Jr. Assassinated, Marilyn Monroe Found Dead.

Possible idea for a character: Create a superhero who stops these events from happening?
